Hill Encourages Affected Dearborn County Residents to Apply for SBA Disaster Loans before July 28 Deadline: Loans available to small businesses that suffered financial losses due to April 2007 drought conditions

(Washington, DC) - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has decided that because of Dearborn County’s proximity to areas in Ohio that were devastated by drought last spring, affected small business and small agricultural cooperative owners in Dearborn County can apply for SBA’s Economic Injury Loans (EIDL).  Under this declaration, SBA’s EDIL program is available to farm-related and nonfarm-related small business concerns and small agricultural cooperatives that suffered financial losses as a direct result of drought conditions that began April 15, 2007 and continuing.  The filing deadline to be eligible to receive these loans is July 28, 2008.  ... view more

First Federal Student Loan Rate Cut Takes Effect Today: Hill supported College Cost Reduction Act that contains the loan rate cuts

(Washington, DC) - The College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007, signed into law on September 27, 2007, provides the single largest increase in college aid since the GI bill, at no new cost to taxpayers.  Under the bill, federal interest rates on subsidized federal Stafford Loans for undergraduates will drop to 6% from the previous rate of 6.8% today, July 1, 2008. ... view more

Congressman Baron Hill and SBA to Host Outreach Session Regarding Disaster Loan Applications Thursday

(Washington, DC) - The office of Congressman Baron Hill and the Small Business Administration (SBA) will hold an outreach session this Thursday, July 3, 2008, in Milltown to assist individuals with completing the SBA Disaster Loan application process.  The SBA has declared the counties of Orange, Scott and Washington and the contiguous counties of Clark, Crawford, Dubois, Floyd, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson and Jennings disaster areas due to damages caused by severe storms and flooding that occurred March 18-20, 2008.  The deadline to apply for Physical Disaster Loans is July 7, 2008.  The deadline to apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans is not until February 5, 2009. ... view more
